OVERVIEW

With a 0.27 to 0.29:1 throw ratio, the VPL-SW630 Ultra Short Throw WXGA Projector from Sony is optimized for classrooms and other installations where the projector will be mounted just inches from the screen. A single lamp provides 3100 ANSI lumens of brightness in Bright mode, and a three-chip LCD imaging device renders a 1280 x 800 (WXGA) resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio image. Through scaling the projector can also support a range of non-native resolutions, up to Full HD (1920 x 1080) for video and UXGA (1600 x 1200) for computer sources.

Multiple ports allow the VPL-SW630 to receive video and audio from a variety of sources, including computers, Blu-ray Disc and DVD players, document cameras, HDTV devices, and more. It features two VGA ports, an HDMI port, an S-video port, and a composite port. A VGA output mirrors the selected VGA input so that you can connect a computer monitor or pass the video along to a second downstream device without needing a distribution amplifier. There are also three analog audio inputs, two on 3.5mm mini jack connectors paired with the VGA inputs and one on stereo RCA that can service either the S-video or composite input. Audio can be output to amplified speakers or a sound system using a variable 3.5mm mini jack, or directly using the projector's built-in 16-watt mono speaker.

For giving "PC Free" presentations, there is a USB type A male port that accepts FAT32-formatted media and supports a variety of still image formats. This port also allows you to install the optional IFU-WLM3 Wi-Fi module (available separately), enabling wireless presentation from a computer or mobile device. A USB type B female port gives you another way of connecting the projector to computer - especially helpful when an HDMI or VGA output is unavailable or tied up by a monitor.

Ultra-Short Throw Design
With a 0.27 to 0.29:1 throw ratio it is possible to render a 70"-wide (80"-diagonal) image with the projector mounted just 19" away from the screen. By mounting at such a close distance the risk of shadow interference and potentially dazzling specular reflections is greatly reduced
Bright Era 3LCD Technology
A beamsplitting prism sends red, blue, and green light through three LCD displays to render a video image. 3LCD design features no moving parts in the imaging system - although there is still a cooling fan - and is free of the "rainbow effect" artifact sometimes perceived on color wheel-based systems
3100 Lumens Lamp
A single lamp provides 3100 lumens of brightness in Bright mode, and is estimated to last 3000 hours (up to 8000 hours when constantly used at the lowest brightness setting). To determine the ideal brightness level for your application, you will need to take into account the screen width, distance from the projector to the screen (throw distance), amount of ambient light near the screen, and the reflectivity (gain) of the screen surface used
16:10 Native Aspect Ratio
This projector features a 16:10 native aspect ratio. This is considered a widescreen format, and comes very close to the 16:9 standard of HDTV. This format is ideal if you plan to show HD video, and can still be used for presentations - though in the case of PowerPoints some extra space may be leftover on the sides. The projector can show 4:3 too; however black bars (pillaring) will have to be applied, or the image will have to be stretched or cropped to fit
USB Display and USB Media Viewer
Two USB ports are found on the VPL-SW630. With them you can:

Type B Female: Provides an alternative way of connecting the projector to a computer apart from HDMI or VGA. This features requires a USB cable (available separately) and the installation of USB Display software on the computer

Type A Female: Allows you to display select still image formats such as JPEG and PNG from a FAT32-formatted flash drive or other USB media. This port also supports the installation of the optional IFU-WLM3 Wi-Fi adapter, available separately
Ethernet and RS-232 Controllable
An RS-232 port means the projector can be controlled from a computer running custom software or via automation systems such as Crestron. Meanwhile an Ethernet port allows it to be controlled across a local network using a Web browser
